Payment methods

Pay by Visa or Mastercard from almost anywhere in the world, billed in US dollars. Enterprise accounts can pay by bank transfer instead.

Paying from Kenya? You can also pay by M-Pesa, Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money, and your prices are shown in shillings. See paying by M-Pesa.

How you pay

Card payments are processed by our payment partner Paystack, which covers most countries and accepts Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. Your card details go straight to Paystack and are never stored on HabariChat's servers.

Subscriptions are billed in US dollars. Your own bank converts that to your local currency at its rate on the day, so the amount leaving your account can move slightly month to month even though the plan price has not changed.

Add or change your card

Go to Settings → Payments to add a card, replace the one on file, or download past invoices. Changing your card takes effect on your next billing date, and nothing is charged at the moment you save it.

A card added during your free trial is not charged until the trial ends. See payment method & invoices for the full steps.

If a payment is declined

The most common cause is your own bank blocking an international online transaction rather than anything wrong with the card or the account. Calling your bank to approve the charge usually clears it on the next attempt.

We retry a failed payment a few times over the following days and email you each time. Your account stays open during that window, so a declined card does not interrupt your conversations while you sort it out. If it still will not go through, email [email protected] and the team will find another way to get you paid up.

Common questions

What payment methods does HabariChat accept?

Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, processed by our payment partner Paystack, which covers most countries. Enterprise customers can also pay by bank transfer.

Which card types can I use?

Visa and Mastercard, both credit and debit. Your card does not need to be issued in any particular country, as Paystack accepts cards from most markets. If a payment is declined, it is usually your bank blocking an international online transaction, so a quick call to them normally clears it.

What currency will I be billed in?

US dollars. Your bank converts to your local currency at its own rate, and some banks add a foreign transaction fee, which appears on your statement rather than on your HabariChat invoice.

Can I pay by bank transfer or invoice?

Bank transfer is available on Enterprise accounts and can be arranged for larger accounts on other plans by talking to the team at [email protected]. Every plan gets an invoice for each payment, downloadable from Settings then Payments.

When am I charged, and can I pay yearly?

Your card is charged on the same date each month, starting when your 14-day free trial ends. Paying annually instead saves 10%, and is billed once for the year.
