Authorize access via Facebook login
The last step connects everything. You log in with Facebook, choose the Page linked to your Instagram account, and grant the messaging permissions. You never share your password with HabariChat, and you can revoke access any time.
Why Facebook login
Instagram does not hand out messaging access directly. It is granted through Meta, using the Facebook Page your Instagram account is linked to. So when you authorise HabariChat, you log in with Facebook, pick that Page, and approve the permissions. Meta then issues a secure access token, and your DMs start flowing into your unified inbox.
Grant access
- An Instagram Business or Creator account, linked to a Facebook Page.
- Admin access to that Facebook Page.
- You are logged into HabariChat.
Steps
- In HabariChat, go to Inboxes → + Connect New Channel and select Instagram Business.
- Click Connect with Facebook. Meta's own login screen opens.
- Log in to Facebook and select the Page linked to your Instagram account.
- Keep every requested permission switched on, then approve.
- HabariChat saves the connection and the Instagram inbox becomes active.
- Send a test DM from another profile and confirm it lands in your inbox.
Is this safe?
Yes. You sign in on Meta's own page, not inside HabariChat, so your password is never shared with us. Meta returns a secure access token scoped only to the messaging permissions you approved. You stay in control: you can review or revoke HabariChat's access at any time in Facebook Settings → Business integrations.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Authentication Required" | Log into HabariChat first, then start the connection. |
| Your Page or Instagram isn't listed | Confirm the account is professional and linked to that Page. |
| DMs not syncing after connecting | Reconnect and make sure every permission is switched on. |
| Want to disconnect | Revoke access in Facebook Settings → Business integrations. |
Common questions
Instagram messaging is managed through Meta. The permissions that let HabariChat handle your Instagram DMs are granted through the Facebook Page your Instagram account is linked to, so the authorisation happens through Facebook login.
No. You log in on Meta's own screen and HabariChat never sees your password. Meta returns a secure access token that is limited to the messaging permissions you approve, and you can revoke it any time in your Facebook settings.
HabariChat requests the permissions needed to read and reply to your Instagram DMs and to show your linked Page. Keep all requested permissions switched on during login, because turning any off will stop messages from syncing.
